The Romania 100,000 Lei Banknote was issued by the National Bank of Romania in 2002, printed on polymer. It has a color combination of orange, purple, red, brown, and yellow. The obverse features Nicolae Grigorescu, the coat of arms of Romania, flowers in underprint, the BNR monogram, an artist’s palette and brush, and an artist’s palette in gold Optically Variable Ink. The reverse depicts the BNR monogram, flowers in underprint, and a young peasant girl carrying a vessel on her shoulder from Nicolae Grigorescu’s painting “Rodica, the Water Carrier”. The note’s reverse also reflects a traditional village house in the Province of Oltenia, an artist’s palette, and the BNR monogram. The note does not have a security thread but bears a shadow image watermark of Nicolae Grigorescu and the BNR monogram. It also has a registration device in the form of an artist’s palette. The note is 160 x 73 mm in size and is signed by Constantin Isarescu and Ionel Nitu. This polymer banknote is in uncirculated condition.
