Exceptionally rare and original, 1880's Oversized, Cast Iron, “Ideal Fire Department” Horse Drawn Fire Engine / Ladder Wagon, rear Wagon Body section manufactured by the Ideal Manufacturing Company of Detroit, Michigan.
Offered here is the original, rear section from the 32”+ Ideal Fire Department Horse Drawn Hook and Ladder Wagon. This Ladder Wagon rear section measures approx. 20” long and 8” tall to the top of the rear fireman’s seat. It includes the VERY hard to find, original large rear wheels that measure approx. 4” in diameter and feature raised dots around the rim. If you need these large, Ideal Toy Wheels here is a very rare chance to get a pair in excellent condition.
This very rare and original, large size, cast iron rear section of the Ideal Fire Department Ladder Wagon is sold for parts only. It includes both of the original rear wheels and the original rear steering wheel and steering wheel post. One of the six Ladder posts is damaged and the rear fireman’s seat is damaged and lacks the right hand half as can be seen in the scans below. The surface paint is well preserved and 100% original however the surface is soiled and in need of a good cleaning. Please see the scans below for a good indication of the form and condition of this rear section of the largest model of the Ideal Fire Department Ladder Wagon.
